How To Spiritually Train Your Kids In Just 5 Minutes A Day
April 17, 2012CommentOk mom and dad!! Here is the question of the day.
Will your kids walk away from Jesus after High School??
The most recent stats say that 60% will! In case you struggle with math, 6 out of every 10 American kids will walk away from Jesus after they graduate from High School.
Seriously??
This is sickening!
This is not just a statistic.
This is not just some number.
This is a life. Your son. Your daughter. Your own flesh and blood that you prayed with and over. Your little girl that sang “Jesus Loves Me” to the top of her lungs.
Why are kids leaving in such massive numbers?
I am sure there are several reasons. But I believe one of the reasons is because parents are not taking the time to form Jesus in their kids lives.
The truth is…
We had rather take the time to practice baseball…than study the Word of God.
We had rather our kids study, make good grades and go to college…than spend time with Jesus.
We had rather be “fun mom” or “hipster dad” than teach our kids about Jesus.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:4-9
As you can see from Deuteronomy 6, parents are called to intentionally teach their kids about Jesus.
So how does Team Sprad do this?
Here’s one way:
- Answers To Tough Questions: Josh McDowell is the author of Answers To Tough Questions and it has been a life changing book for Team Sprad. The book covers topics like…Why should I believe Jesus is God? How do we know Jesus really rose from the dead? Why are there so many contradictions in the Bible?
I take this little book and Team Sprad covers 1 topic in 5 to 10 minutes every morning at breakfast.
My kids lives are being changed, because I substituted non meaningful conversation with life giving, empowering conversation over breakfast.
You should do the same!
I believe in this so much…that I am willing to buy you a copy of this book so you can get started.
